Listening to Kindergarten Students Converse During Center Time

I had a hard time not laughing out loud  as I listened to my little charges talking during centers today. "Why didn't the Easter egg cross the street ?" said one. "Why" replied his friend. "Because he didn't want to get smashed." said the first. Lots of giggles followed this exchange. A third child piped in "Can you eat cracked Easter eggs?" "No way!" replied the first. "They have germs all over "em". "Well, that's no big deal" said the other. "You can't taste germs!" Then a fourth child piped in "Have you ever seen an Easter egg hatched?" "No!" "Nope!" two of the children replied. "Me either" said the fourth child.

And then it started again. "What bunny doesn't come out at Easter?" said one. "What?" said another. "The sleeping ones." which was followed by a burst of giggles. I love working with little kids!

    I love to hear kids say the cutest things! Just wanted to let you know I am taking a little bloggy break. Spring is here, and I need to get off my butt and start working and moving.     It is so much fun to watch children at play and hear the funniest things and sometimes not so funny. This one was very cute. Thank you for sharing.

    I know Kristin. If I were you, I would start keeping a journal now of some of those funny sayings. Don't do what I did and try to remember them all when you are old..lol

    These made me laugh for a few reasons:

    1) Some aren't funny, but the fact that they laugh makes them funny
    2) There are so many things little kids just don't understand, so their own theories are funny
    3) Okay, the cracked Easter egg on the street joke was funny!
